solo jazz (4 Week blocks/drop ins)

Tuesdays, 8.30pm - 9.45pm

All Levels

£30 (Block of 4) or £9pw

Solo Jazz is so much more than just remembering a routine - it’s about connecting with so many of the values of jazz dance as an African American art form: self expression, collaboration, improvisation, community and creativity.

Our weekly Solo Jazz classes provide a supportive, collaborative environment to explore rhythm, get creative with classic jazz steps, build your confidence improvising and strengthen your relationship to the music we love to dance to. All of these skills not only help us invest in our own dancing, building the connection between our own movement and jazz rhythms, but help us to bring more to the table as a Lindy Hopper as well!

These open level sessions allow for everyone to work at their own pace, selecting their own level of challenge as we explore classic steps, draw inspiration from classic clips and dive into the history of jazz.

WHEN

We offer Solo Jazz classes on Tuesdays (8:30pm - 9:30pm) bookable on a four-week rolling basis. Attendees are welcome to join the 30 minute social before class as well.

The block starting April 29th will be a four week course exploring the classic routine, The Tranky Doo. This is open to all levels however familiarity with the Shim Sham is recommended.

Jessie’s classes have helped me to experience music and movement in a group - the classes are really well structured and pose a satisfying challenge as well as a giggle! Her instructions are really broken down and easy to understand, plus the music is the best too

Solo Jazz Sundays gave me the freedom and technical know-how to dance in a way that feels great in my body. I can self express, connect with rhythm and be more creative in how I move to great music

Solo Jazz is a terrific way to explore your individual style with other like-minded dancers in a fun and relaxed atmosphere created by the incredibly hard working Jessie - not to mention its an amazing work out!

I love solo jazz, and Jessie’s great and clear teaching. I also love the fact that it’s all levels, and everyone is welcome. I get to learn something new every time and it has really made me a better dancer, alone and with partner. Jessie has amazing touch to all of her teaching and you will leave the class with a smile on your face

It’s wonderful to try new moves, and I really enjoy Jessie’s approach to improvising & how we’re encouraged to really listen and respond. This is an important part of any dance and she makes it very accessible and lots of fun.
